Reconciling a Bank Account
Step 1: Log into QuickBooks Online
First things first, log into your QuickBooks Online account.
Step 2: Find the Reconcile Page
Click on the gear icon (the little wheel) at the top right corner. Under the “Tools” section, click on “Reconcile.”
Step 3: Choose Your Bank Account
Select your bank account from the drop-down menu that appears.
Step 4: Enter Your Statement Info
Grab your bank statement. You'll need to enter the “Ending balance” and the “Ending date” exactly as they appear on your statement. Then, click “Start reconciling.”
Step 5: Match Transactions
QuickBooks will show you a list of transactions. Your job is to match these with the transactions on your bank statement. For each transaction on your statement, find the matching one in QuickBooks and check it off. If you see something on your statement that isn't in QuickBooks, you'll need to add it manually.
Step 6: Make Sure Everything Matches
Your goal here is to get the “Difference” to be $0.00. This means all your transactions match perfectly. If there's a difference, double-check your entries to find any mistakes.
Step 7: Finish Up
Once the difference is $0.00, click “Finish now.” Congratulations, you've reconciled your bank account!
Reconciling a Credit Card Account

Just like with your bank account, click on the gear icon at the top right corner. Under “Tools,” click on “Reconcile.”
Step 2: Choose Your Credit Card Account
Select your credit card account from the drop-down menu.
Step 3: Enter Your Statement Info
Grab your credit card statement. Enter the “Ending balance” and the “Ending date” exactly as they appear on your statement. Then, click “Start reconciling.”
Step 4: Match Transactions
QuickBooks will show you a list of credit card transactions. Your job is to match these with the transactions on your credit card statement. Check off each transaction that matches.
Step 5: Make Sure Everything Matches
Again, your goal is to get the “Difference” to be $0.00. If there's a difference, double-check your entries to find any mistakes.
Step 6: Finish Up
Once the difference is $0.00, click “Finish now.” Boom, your credit card account is reconciled!
